Ms Ann Maguire - General Manager

Ms Ann Maguire has a strong background in private hospital management and her previous senior management roles include State Manager for Healthscope in various States, including most recently in Queensland. Ann has managed complex hospitals during her career and is well recognised for her strong communication skills as well as her financial acumen and detailed knowledge of the private health sector.

Dr Luis Prado - Director of Medical Services

Dr Luis Prado joined the Wesley in 2005 as Director of Medical Services. In this role he is responsible for the accreditation of Visiting Medical Officers at the Wesley, as well as all other medical staff on the hospital campus.

His previous positions include Manager of Junior Medical Staff at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Deputy Director of Medical Services at Greenslopes Private Hospital and Director of Clinical Training at both The Prince Charles Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital. He has also served as a medical officer with the Australian Regular Army, including deployments to the Western Sahara and Solomon Islands and commanded the 11th Medical Company at Gallipoli Barracks Brisbane.

Luis is actively involved in medical education and clinical teaching and regularly teaches medical students via The Wesley Hospital Clinical School.  Luis is an Associate Professor for Bond University and is also a Medical Member for the Social Security Appeals Tribunal.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Australian College of Health Services Management, the Royal Australian College of Medical Administration and The Australasian Association for Quality in Health Care and holds a Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine. Luis continues to work actively as a General Practitioner around his duties as Director of Medical Services.

Mr Callan Battley - Director of Nursing

Mr Callan Battley commenced as Acting Director of Nursing in July 2011. Callan began work at the Wesley’s Post Cardiac Unit as a Registered Nurse in 1997. Callan has worked as a Clinical Nurse before becoming the Wesley’s Director of Clinical Education from 2005 – 2010, and the Assistant Director of Nursing (Women’s and Surgical Services) from 2010 - 2011.

Callan holds post graduate qualifications in Nursing as well as Leadership and Management. He also has a wealth of experience with medical, surgical and intensive care nursing.

Mr Fergus Pollock - Director of Finance and Administration

Fergus Pollock first joined the Wesley Hospital in June 1995 as Planning and Development Manager. In September 2000 he moved to Uniting Care Health holding the position of Manager of Financial Analysis and then Business Development Manager. He transferred back to the Wesley in July 2006 as Director of Finance and Administration. During his time at Uniting Care Health he was involved in capital works projects at St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital and the Greenfield development of St Stephen's Hospital, Hervey Bay.

Fergus is a Certified Practising Accountant and has over 20 years commercial and financial experience in the private hospitals sector, industrial catering sector and insurance.

Mr Ron Symonds - Director of Support Services

Mr Ron Symonds joined the Wesley as Director of Support Services in 1992. In this role he oversees various different areas of the hospital including, engineering, environmental services, food services, linen service, building maintenance and the florist.

Ron has a background in law enforcement covering 22 years, including 16 years in Papua New Guinea. He served in a number of locations and positions throughout Papua New Guinea, culminating in the senior positions of Commandant of the Police College, Director of the Traffic Division, and Director of Administration, Personnel Services and Training. While in Papua New Guinea, Ron was presented with the Queen’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. In 1985 Ron and his family moved back to Australia where Ron took up the position of Regional Manager of Telecom Protective Services, Queensland.

Ms Judy Gentle - Human Resources Manager

Ms Judy Gentle commenced as the Acting Human Resources Manager at the Wesley in 2011. Judy was previously the Human Resources Manager at St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, Brisbane.
