Dr Ian Knox

Dr Knox is an Emergency Physician based at the Wesley Emergency Centre.

Dr Knox graduated from University of Queensland in 1976, and worked as an intern at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He then worked at Toowoomba Hospital from 1979 to 1994, and as director of the Toowoomba Hospital Emergency Department from 1986. He moved to Brisbane to set up the Wesley Emergency Centre in 1994, and remained director until 2001.

Dr Knox has been heavily involved in the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), being a foundation member, chair of Queensland faculty and chair of the College’s Private Practice Committee. He was president of the ACEM from 2001 until 2004, and president of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine from 2002 to 2004. He was also a partner in a company which designed and set up private emergency departments throughout Australia.
