Dr David Rimmer

Dr Rimmer is an Emergency Physician based at the Wesley Emergency Centre.

Dr Rimmer graduated from medical school at the University of Queensland in 1977. He spent five years in public hospitals before entering general practice in Toowoomba. In 1995 he moved into Emergency work, initially at the Mater Private Emergency Care Centre where he worked until 2000. From there he moved to the Royal Flying Doctor Service working mostly in Kowanyama while also acting as medical advisor for the rural workforce agency in Queensland.

Dr Rimmer commenced work at the Wesley Emergency Centre in 2002, but continues to do locums in rural areas. He gained his Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 1983 and his Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) diploma in 1985. He has current Early Management of Severe Trauma, Australian Paediatric Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics and BASIC certifications. He is an examiner for the RACGP, and was an examiner for the RANZCOG diploma for 15 years. He has previously served as an Australian Medical Association Queensland councillor and RACGP state councillor.
