New sponsor for Brisbane Capitals Women’s team
The Brisbane Capitals Queensland Basketball League Women’s team will have a new sponsor for 2017, thanks to a partnership with The Wesley Hospital.
The Brisbane Capitals are supported by their home association Brisbane Basketball - Queensland’s largest basketball association. The association plays more than 5,500 games per year from their Auchenflower stadium base and caters to broad range of ages and abilities. The women’s team achieved final four status last year and is hoping to take their performance one step further in 2017.
Brisbane Basketball Inc General Manager Trevor Lidstone said, “We are delighted to begin this new partnership with The Wesley Hospital. Health and wellbeing is important to our players and members, so there was no better partner than the Wesley.
“This partnership enables us to create meaningful ties with the Wesley, and it is an added bonus that we are located within walking distance of the hospital.”
The Wesley is one of the largest private hospitals in Queensland. It offers tertiary-level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including orthopaedics, cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, maternity and women’s health.
The hospital has been at the forefront of patient care since it was built on the Auchenflower site in 1977. With more than 500 beds, the hospital has grown in response to emerging trends in the delivery of private healthcare and the growing population of South East Queensland.
The Wesley Hospital General Manager Michael Krieg said the hospital was proud to be associated with Brisbane Basketball Inc, whose history at its current Auchenflower site dates back to 1973.
“As a major Brisbane hospital with a 24 hour emergency centre, we know it is important to create links with people in our community,” he said.
“Through the Capitals, we can reach a new group of people who may need to use our services in the future.
“We are pleased with the partnership and look forward to a long and healthy relationship with the Brisbane Capitals.”
