UnitingCare to expand The Wesley Hospital Campus with Comprehensive Cancer and Day Surgery Centres
The Queensland Government has now issued a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation approval for a new 10-storey health precinct connected to The Wesley Hospital.
The approval paves the way for UnitingCare Queensland (UnitingCare) to meet Queensland’s growing healthcare demand and the needs of the local and regional communities through integrated infrastructure within The Wesley Hospital precinct. The new building will link with the wider hospital campus via a pedestrian bridge with a vision of creating Brisbane’s largest private comprehensive cancer centre.
Designed with a focus on advancing treatment through collaboration, research and innovation; the facility will feature a new day surgery centre, radiology, radiation oncology bunkers and dedicated cancer care services.
UnitingCare will anchor the precinct with a day surgery and other established health services, and is actively inviting health, research and cancer care organisations to register their interest in being part of what will be a thriving health ecosystem.
“The new facility will support UnitingCare to deliver on its mission to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities,” said UnitingCare’s Group Executive – Hospitals, David Harper. “The high-quality services provided at the centre will expand our impact, and that of our future partners, through enhanced patient experiences and improved service delivery.”
The new health facility is part of UnitingCare’s broader portfolio growth in healthcare services and builds on the recent opening of St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital Day Surgery Centre.
UnitingCare operates four not-for-profit private hospitals in Queensland (The Wesley Hospital, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital, and St Stephen’s Hospital) and is committed to continuing its track record of modernising facilities to meet evolving healthcare needs.
Brisbane based property and development advisors, Fluent are advising UnitingCare on the planning and delivery of the innovative health precinct.
