Dr Matthew Rowe was born and raised in Southeast Queensland. He began his studies with a Bachelor of Science, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2009. Following his General Medical training he trained in Cardiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2017.

Matthew then undertook a further year of Fellowship training in Pacing and Electrophysiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Following this he spent a further 2 years at the renowned London Health Sciences Centre in Canada focussing on ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia as well as complex cardiac device management.

Matthew has published research articles in Australian and international peer-reviewed medical journals on topics such as physiological pacing, atrial fibrillation and genetically inherited arrhythmias. He is a member of the Queensland Electrophysiology and Pacing Research Alliance and is an investigator in a number of national and international clinical trials. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and also teaches medical students from the University of Queensland and Griffith University.

His special interests include heart rhythm disorders, pacemakers and defibrillators, ablation of arrhythmias and genetically inherited cardiac conditions.

Currently he is employed as a Staff Specialist Electrophysiologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital as well as consulting and performing procedures at the Wesley Hospital.
