Associate Professor Nicholas O’Rourke has been consulting in general, laparoscopic and hepatobiliary surgery at the Wesley since 1994. Dr O’Rourke has a special interest in general laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic hernia and cholecystectomy. He is renowned nationally and internationally as an expert in laparoscopic liver and pancreatic surgery, and frequently lectures on these topics. Dr O’Rourke also performs other laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic banding, thoracoscopic sympathectomy, and has an interest in laparoscopic surgery for the acute abdomen.
Dr O'Rourke has a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and is currently President of the Australia and New Zealand Hepato Pancreatico Biliary Association.
