She has extensive experience caring for patients in both public and private hospital settings, and her areas of special interest are Peripheral Arterial disease, Aortic Pathology, Renal Access surgery, and Venous disease.
Dr Peden completed her postgraduate medical degree at The University of Queensland in 2011. Her internship and prevocational trainee years were undertaken at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Nambour Hospital, Hervey Bay Hospital, and Cairns Hospital.
Dr Peden says her decision to specialise in Vascular Surgery came after finding herself on a Vascular Surgery rotation during her prevocational training and being fascinated by the complex and often time-critical nature of the specialty. She is known for her compassionate, patient-centred approach to treatment and strong commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care.
Between 2015 and 2019, Dr Peden undertook Specialist Vascular Surgical Training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital, Townsville Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, and the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Vascular Surgery in 2019.
Since completing her fellowship, Dr Peden has worked as a Staff Specialist Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital, Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS), and The Wesley Hospital.
She is active in medical research and has collaborated with the team at the Herston Biofabrication Institute on projects aimed at improving treatment of Aortic Pathology and utilising 3D printing for advanced pre-operative planning.
Dr Peden is also passionate about teaching. She is a Senior Lecturer for The University of Queensland, Supervisor of training for Vascular trainees at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Prince Charles Hospital, and is a junior doctor Term Supervisor.
