Dr Garske is a Thoracic Physician who has now commenced full time private practice at The Wesley Hospital.
He welcomes referrals with any thoracic disease, such as:
- asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary embolus, pulmonary hypertensionl
- abnormal imaging: lung lesion, mediastinal lymphadenopathy
- cough, dyspnea, hemoptysis
- pleural disease such as pleural effusion, pneumothorax, pleural thickening, pleural plaques
Dr Garske has a special interest in pleural disease. He has completed a PhD on pleural effusion, and performs a range of procedures for the diagnosis and management of pleural effusion. These include Thoracoscopy, Pleurodesis, Indwelling Pleural Catheters, and real time ultrasound-guided drainage.
Dr Garske also has a special interest in the investigation of lung lesions, and performs endobronchial ultrasound. He performs endobronchial valves for pneumothorax and COPD.
Dr Garske trained at Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital and Belfast City Hospital. He then worked for 13 years full time in public Thoracic Medicine at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He currently does one public session at Caboolture Hospital.
He has written three textbook chapters on pleural disease and published on a broad range of Thoracic Medicine topics.
