Dr Thomas Basso is a Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist who specialises in the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm disorders.

His niche expertise includes cardiac device implantation (including left bundle area pacing, leadless pacing, and subcutaneous defibrillators) and catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.

Tom completed his Doctor of Medicine with Distinction in 2015 at Griffith University. His Cardiology training was undertaken at the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital and the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

He then went on to pursue Fellowship training in Electrophysiology, which included 12 months at Brisbane’s high-volume Princess Alexandra Hospital and 18 months working under the mentorship of distinguished field leaders at the Queen Elizabeth II Halifax Infirmary in Canada.

Tom is actively involved in research and has published on a range of topics, including cardiac drug use in pregnancy, pacemakers, and ventricular tachycardia ablation. He has presented at multiple national conferences and enjoys teaching Cardiology trainees during his weekly ECG and rhythm-tracing sessions.

An avid runner, outside of work hours he can often be found pounding the pavement along the popular Brisbane River Loop, or cooking with his family.

Tom consults and operates at The Wesley Hospital.
