Salary packaging and retail benefits
Employees have access to salary packaging - up to $15,900 per year tax free as well as up to $2,650 of pre-tax income to pay for meal and entertainment benefits.
This benefit is available as UnitingCare Queensland is a non-for-profit organisation (endorsed public benevolent institutions and not-for-profit hospital), and receive a fringe benefit tax (FBT) exemption.

Lifestyle and family
Parental leave
We offer 12 weeks paid parental leave and 2 weeks paid partner leave, available after 6 months, as we understand the importance of being with your family in the early months of your child’s life for both parents. This is in addition to the government’s paid leave scheme.
Inclusive leave
We offer paid gender affirmation leave and cultural leave (paid and unpaid) to celebrate Diwali, Ramadan, NAIDOC or other culturally significant events.
Flexible working arrangements
We understand that juggling work and personal lives can be a challenge, so if you need flexibility with your work hours, you may be able to make an arrangement that suits you and the Wesley. If you’re approaching retirement, or have recently retired, we’d encourage you to consider flexible working hours so you can extend your career with the Wesley.
Purchasing additional leave
As a permanent employee, you may make a request to purchase an additional four weeks of annual leave each year for recreational purposes.
Annual leave at half pay
In certain circumstances, you may elect to use annual leave at half pay. For further details, see your Enterprise Agreement.

Employee Assistance Program
Volunteers, employees and their immediate families may access up to three free confidential counselling sessions, plus access to a range of online self-support tools and resources as part of our Employee Assistance Program to assist with your mental, social, financial and spiritual health.
Also, through our Superannuation partners and our Inspire platform you have access to a range of financial education, tips and guides to help you manage your money better.
Pastoral Care
The Wesley provides employees the opportunity to seek pastoral care support and guidance through our onsite Chaplains.

e-Library
As part of the UnitingCare family, The Wesley Hospital has access to a dedicated Librarian who undertakes information searches for staff to keep them informed in their area of clinical interest. Our E-library provides access to a large range of online databases to assist with research or to inform evidence-based practice at work. The self-service E-library is accessible from any computer on the UnitingCare Health network. The Librarian can perform online services and document delivery for Visiting Medical Practitioners, once approval has been gained.

Clinical education
Clinical education is offered at each UnitingCare hospital. Clinical educators support nursing staff in each department.
Our hospitals partner with major universities to provide clinical training to graduates, nurses and allied health professionals, including in service programs and skills labs. We have affiliations with:

- University of the Sunshine Coast.
The Wesley Hospital offers undergraduate clinical placements across all health disciplines and takes the responsibility of teaching very seriously to ensure a positive experience for students as they work towards becoming a professional.
