A/Prof Tetsworth is recognised internationally as an expert in deformity correction, limb lengthening, high-energy trauma, reconstruction of bone defects, post-traumatic limb salvage and reconstruction, osteomyelitis, minimally invasive plating of humeral shaft fractures, prosthetic joint infection, fracture-related infection, complex revision arthroplasty, and osseointegration for amputees.

He completed his education and training in Chicago followed by 2 fellowships, one in Ilizarov surgery (Baltimore, under Prof Dror Paley) and another in osteomyelitis (Atlanta, under Prof George Cierny). Clinically active in orthopaedics for >35 years, for the past 7 years he has partnered together with Prof Munjed Al Muderis (Sydney) using osseointegration for the reconstruction of amputees.

A/Prof Tetsworth’s research interests are as diverse as his clinical interests, including the biology of the Masquelet induced membrane, intra-articular fractures, 3D modelling and printing, tissue engineering, biomimetic scaffolds, orthopaedic infections, bone defects, osseointegration, and more. A popular invited speaker for many years, he has presented over 900 formal lectures at more than 330 conferences in 29 countries on 6 continents. He has co-authored over 220 publications, including one book and 16 book chapters, that have earned almost 6,000 citations.
